End-User License Agreement

Last updated: June 23, 2026

This End-User License Agreement ("Agreement") governs your installation and use of the RungTrace desktop application, documentation, updates, and related materials. By downloading, installing, activating, or using RungTrace, you agree to this Agreement. If you are using RungTrace for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

License Grant

Subject to this Agreement and payment of applicable fees, RungTrace grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the software during the active license term for internal business purposes. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

License Types

Individual, team, site, trial, and other license types may have different seat counts, permitted users, activation limits, support levels, prices, and terms. Your order, quote, checkout confirmation, or license portal controls the specific license type purchased.

Activation And Machine Locking

RungTrace uses license activation tied to a machine or device identifier. Internet access is required for initial activation. After activation, RungTrace is designed to operate offline. You may deactivate and transfer a license to another machine if self-service transfer is available and your subscription remains active. We may limit transfers to prevent fraud, abuse, or unauthorized sharing.

Evaluation Licenses

Evaluation or trial licenses are available only when expressly issued by us. If a 30-day license is provided, it is for evaluation only and may expire automatically. Evaluation access may be limited and may be revoked if duplicated, shared, extended improperly, or used outside the intended evaluation purpose.

Permitted Use

You may use RungTrace to connect to supported controllers, view supported L5X project exports, browse logic, monitor supported values, perform supported writes, trend values, use Tag Trace, and use other available features for lawful internal troubleshooting and diagnostic purposes.

Your PLC Systems And Project Files

You retain ownership of your PLC programs, L5X exports, tag data, comments, routines, Add-On Instructions, project files, controller information, and related plant-floor data. RungTrace does not claim ownership of those materials. You are responsible for obtaining permission to use any project files, controller credentials, networks, and systems you access with RungTrace.

Restrictions

You may not copy, share, sublicense, rent, lease, host, resell, distribute, publish, or transfer RungTrace except as expressly allowed in writing. You may not bypass activation, remove license controls, tamper with license files, share keys outside your licensed organization, use another customer's license, modify the software, create derivative works, or reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software except to the limited extent applicable law prohibits that restriction.

Safety-Critical Use

RungTrace is a diagnostic and troubleshooting tool. It is not a safety-rated system, emergency stop, interlock, alarm system, control system, backup system, or substitute for validated PLC logic, plant procedures, qualified engineering judgment, or Rockwell Automation software where required. Do not use RungTrace as the sole basis for operating equipment, bypassing safeguards, making production decisions, or determining whether machinery is safe.

Writing Values To Controllers

RungTrace may allow users to write supported values to supported controllers. Any write to a controller can affect equipment, process behavior, personnel safety, product quality, downtime, and property. You are solely responsible for verifying the target controller, tag, value, state of equipment, permissives, hazards, and authorization before performing any write. You should maintain backups, follow lockout/tagout and site safety procedures where applicable, and test changes in a safe environment when possible.

No Guarantee Of Compatibility

RungTrace is built for supported Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix environments and supported Studio 5000 L5X exports, but we do not guarantee compatibility with every controller model, firmware version, instruction, network configuration, project structure, operating system, or third-party tool. Unsupported or unusual configurations may not display, connect, monitor, trace, or write correctly.

Updates

We may provide updates, bug fixes, or new versions during an active subscription. Updates may add, change, or remove features. Some updates may be required for continued licensing, security, compatibility, or support. You are responsible for validating updates before using them in production or plant-floor environments.

Confidentiality And Support Materials

If you send us logs, screenshots, L5X files, project details, or other support materials, you grant us permission to use them to provide support, troubleshoot issues, improve RungTrace, and maintain records. Do not send sensitive, confidential, export-controlled, safety-critical, or customer-restricted materials unless you are authorized to do so.

Third-Party Components And Services

RungTrace may interact with third-party services for licensing, activation, checkout, downloads, or support. Third-party components and services may be governed by their own terms. RungTrace is not responsible for third-party software, services, outages, terms, or data handling except as required by law.

Rockwell Automation Disclaimer

Allen-Bradley, ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Studio 5000, RSLinx, and related names are trademarks of Rockwell Automation, Inc. RungTrace is not affiliated with, sponsored by, approved by, or endorsed by Rockwell Automation, Inc.

Ownership

RungTrace and its software, user interface, logic, code, documentation, designs, branding, and related materials are licensed, not sold. We and our licensors retain all ownership and intellectual property rights in RungTrace.

Termination

This Agreement terminates automatically if your subscription expires, your evaluation or trial license ends, you fail to pay required fees, or you materially breach this Agreement. Upon termination, you must stop using RungTrace and delete or deactivate copies as requested. Sections intended to survive, including restrictions, ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, safety provisions, and indemnity, will survive termination.

Disclaimer Of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, RungTrace is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, uninterrupted operation, error-free operation, or compatibility with your systems.

Limitation Of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, RungTrace and its owners, developers, licensors, suppliers, and providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive, or enhanced damages; lost profits; lost revenue; lost data; business interruption; downtime; production loss; equipment damage; process loss; personal injury; property damage; or costs of substitute goods or services arising from or related to RungTrace. Our total liability for all claims is limited to the amount paid for the applicable license during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless RungTrace and its owners, developers, licensors, suppliers, and providers from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your use of RungTrace, your PLC systems, your violation of this Agreement, your violation of law, or your infringement of third-party rights.

Export And Government Use

You may not use, export, re-export, or transfer RungTrace in violation of applicable export control, sanctions, or trade laws. If RungTrace is used by or for a government entity, it is provided as commercial computer software with only the rights stated in this Agreement unless a written agreement says otherwise.

Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the United States and the state where RungTrace is principally operated, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in that state will have exclusive jurisdiction unless applicable law requires another forum.

Changes

We may update this Agreement for future versions, renewals, downloads, or continued use. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new last-updated date. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated Agreement where permitted by law.
